Description

Learn how to program and create your own 3D games! From a 3D shooter, 2D side scroller to 3D RTS: this is the starting point for a career in games programming.

In-Depth Course Plan

  • Review of C/C++
  • Setting up your editing environment
  • Your first GLUT application
  • 3D elements, viewports, projection matrices and mathematics
  • Feedback from the mouse and keyboard
  • A simple 2D application - Asteroids
  • Final task - a simple 3D shooter

Duration: 3 Hours

What you will learn
  • Setting up your editing environment
  • A review of C/C++
  • Make your first GLUT application
What you will get
  • All materials and tools are provided
  • We have a lounge area and coffee machine for non-participants to use
  • Participants leave the workshop with the ability to create a simple computer game which uses 3D graphics
  • They will take home a simple 3D game with full documentation provided

What to bring
  • You don't need to bring anything, however you may bring your own laptop with Dev C++ or Visual Studio installed.
What to wear

You must wear enclosed footwear.

Appropriate for

Ages 15 years and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you are interested in the technology behind modern computer games, computer graphics and hardware acceleration - this is the course for you.

Cancellation Policy: As we purchase materials based on the number of attendees for each workshop we are unable to refund tickets. We do welcome you to pass your ticket to a friend to come in your place. Please email us if you do wish to change the name on the ticket.  In the event that the class is cancelled by Hobbymedo, fees will be refunded or alternative dates offered.

If you wish to use public transport to get to this event, please visit Translink.  Off-street customer car parking is available at 75 Redland Bay Road - just follow the driveway around the back of the Baby Bunting store.
