  • The ability to competently follow glaze recipes.

  • Knowledge on how to mix up a glaze.

  • An introduction to metal oxides and how to achieve desired colour.

Lucy Be is a potter who trained at Central Saint Matins in London, majoring in ceramic functional ware.  Since leaving University, she has studied under master potters such as Nic Collins and Olivia Walker.  Under their tutelage, she developed her passion for woodfiring and glaze making.

Currently, she works from her studio in the Northern Rivers making her range of hand thrown, decorated tableware.  She is inspired by the foods we eat and the changing seasons.

What a fantastic course run by the amazing Lucy Be. This course was exactly what I was looking for, which was a comprehensive introduction to making my own glazes, as well as an opportunity to mix a few classic glaze recipes.

A fantastic glazing workshop! Lucy was a patient teacher who kindly shared much of her knowledge with us and even allowed us to experiment with a matte glaze!! She explained everything in a way we could understand and in so much detail. Excited to see the results of our experiments and to start making my own glazes!!

What a brilliant workshop! I learnt so much about glazes in such a short amount of time. I feel a lot more confident to further my glaze experimentation and delve further into my pottery journey. Lucy was an amazing teacher who explained everything simply and clearly and she was so open to any questions or discussions that came up. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone thinking that they want to know more about glazes than what is available commercially. It was such a fun, educational and hands on day.
