Ceramics: Level 2 with EJ
(+1 more date)
Now that you’ve finally got your hands dirty with clay we know you’ve been waiting to jump right back in! We know how much you love learning from EJ, so we've built this class for her to take you on your next clay journey.
This 6 week course allows us to delve deeper into the medium since we’ve got more time and you have a little bit of experience under your belt from the Intro to Ceramics class. The types of projects we'll be working on are as follows:
- Centering clay properly
- Throwing bigger lump of clay
- Off the hump throwing
- Combining wheel throwing and hand building
- Making handles
- Sgraffito and other surface treatments
You will get more time on the wheel, throwing bigger, better in new shapes and forms, and you will also have time to work on your own projects.
This course will give you the skills and confidence to start working more independently in our ceramics studio. You never know, you might fall in love so much that you abandon your day job and become a MakerSpace & Co. ceramics member!
About our teacher:
EJ is a Sydney based artist born in 'the good Korea'. She studied her Honours majoring sculpture at the Sydney College of the Arts. She's recently shown her sculptures at the 541 Art space, The Other Art fair, Kerry Lowe Gallery, Australian Ceramics Triennale in Hobart and a solo show with Electrofringe. Her practice is experimental and cross disciplinary, combining different mediums such as performance, video and ceramics. She wasn’t always interested with wheel throwing, it was only when she had a humbling experience learning complexity of wheel throwing. She vividly dreamt of wheel throwing, waking up in confusion as her hands were clean and dry.
