Linocut Printmaking Basics (Brisbane)

Description

In this intro workshop you will learn the skills of Lino cut printmaking, and print your very own handcut works on paper. Once learned, this versatile and accessible technique can be applied to the creation of artist’s books, textile design, poster design and limited edition prints.

This class will cover carving out your image from a Silk Cut plate, line work and cutting techniques, safety, correct inking of a plate and hand printing. You will also be advised on how to hand colour your prints and introduce textures into your work.

You will take home a striking set of your own prints, your lino plate, full instructions and resource sheets and the ability to print at home using this technique!

About Chris Hagen

Chris is an American-born artist who holds an MFA from Illinois State University, as well as training from the Tamarind Institute of Lithography. Chris specialises in intaglio and lithography printmaking, and has worked with edition priners in Illinois and Minneapolis, and has instructed in America and Australia.

Cancelation & Refund Policy

REFUNDS

Work-Shop requires 72 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund. If you miss this window, earn some extra karma points and give your ticket to one of your buddies. The tickets are fully transferable. Email learn@work-shop.com.au to organise a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We’ll do our darndest to run all scheduled classes, however, let’s face it… sometimes shit happens! Most of our classes must have a minimum of 5 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

(Don’t worry, we’ll only these use to show others how much of a rad time you’re having through social media, newsletters, blogs, website and general Work-Shop promo material)

This intro class was well set out and run, the instructor was highly knowledgeable and paced the lesson appropriately. There was plenty of materials and tools to use, and he made us feel comfortable to ask any questions, and answered and gave advice on anyrhing we asked. Highly recommended class to attend.

Chris, the teacher, is amazingly knowledgeable and so eager to share his science and vast experience. He has such a generous and kind way of delivering the course, we loved him! This workshop is awesome, very well organized, fun and so satisfying, highly recommended. Hopefully plenty more to come!
