Join Vanessa and learn how to make a range of ceramic bowls and cups, ready to be filled with cold weather warmers such as soup, curry, tea and coffee. Using pinching methods, you can either make a set or a variety of vessels as you desire. Then use black and/or white to decorate your creations to make them truly one of a kind. Your pieces will then be glazed and fired, ready for pick-up from Workshop at a later date.
This class is suitable for any skill level so enrol now and have fun with such an addictive tactile material as clay!
ABOUT VANESSA WALLACE
Vanessa has always been an ‘arty soul’, growing up in Byron Bay and always dabbling in art and craft. She holds separate tertiary qualifications in Design, Visual Arts and Teaching, and enjoys passing on to others her knowledge and skills.
As a practising ceramic artist for the past 13 years, Vanessa exhibits her work at various galleries in Queensland and New South Wales, her work also part of private collections both national and international. She loves nothing better than pinching porcelain, decorating surfaces and splashing colour.
Inspiration for Vanessa’s work comes from the cultural richness that surrounds her. She weaves her experience of travel, art histories and daily rituals into her artmaking. Creating series of themed ceramic works, Vanessa uses either hand building or slip casting techniques and always strives to leave a trace of the hand on her work.
Vanessa enjoys exploring the possibilities of mixing various materials and processes to create art that is evocative, textural and desirable.
Great class to learn the basics of making clay bowls and cups using your hand. Nice relaxed environment and heaps of fun!
Great to try clay work like this. Enjoyed that we could make a few different things and try different techniques.
We learned how to work with clay properly....the highlight was seeing our end results, we can't wait to get our pieces back after firing ! The class was not rushed, Vanessa paid attention to every detail and she was a fantastic instructor. She certainly knows all about clay ! Thank you Vanesssa.....Jill and Stef...
