Wear your art on your sleeve! Or failing that, why not wear it around your neck? Embroidery is no longer your nanna’s domain. In this three hour workshop, you will learn the basics of embroidery and how to apply it to fabrics to make your own wearable piece of art. Your nan would be proud!
In this class, you will learn the basics of decorative embroidery, including how to set up your fabric, hoop and floss. You will also learn and practice common embroidery stitches before applying your skills to a fabric of your choice. By the end of the workshop, you will walk away with one or two tiny hoops adorned with your own stitching and the know-how to make more!
No previous experience or skills are required.
Jess is a graphic designer by day and a crafty so-and-so by night. She learned to sew on a hand-crank Singer sewing machine when she was just a wee lass and has been a loyal member of the needle and thread club ever since. She's a self-confessed bowerbird and can’t resist holding onto a pretty scrap of fabric. Now that her days of turning vintage tablecloths into dresses are long behind her, she’s has turned her crafty ways to needlepoint felting, creating felt pennants and finding contemporary applications for traditional embroidery stitches.
