Introduction to Cold Process Soapmaking

Description

Melbourne Soapworks makes pure, handcrafted botanical soaps using essential oils, raw butters + clays, with none of the nasties (SLS, parabens, chemicals or lab colourants)!

In this 3 hour workshop you'll learn how to make traditional, natural soap using plant oils (no palm oil) and pure essential oils.

You will be given an overview of cold process soapmaking including ingredients, equipment and safety. We'll discuss recipe formulations and the key secrets for success, and best of all - you'll also participate in making a batch of soap to take home!

ABOUT MELBOURNE SOAPWORKS

Alison creates soaps using the traditional cold process method of soapmaking. She chooses to use only natural ingredients, including olive oil, coconut oil and plant butters; essential oils for fragrance instead of synthetic fragrances, and clays to achieve a range of beautiful colours, instead of micas or lab-created colourants.

After practicing soapmaking for two years, including being taught by larger soap manufacturers, she launched Melbourne Soapworks in early 2017 and teaches classes from her own workshop. Alison has a background in health science and believes the soapmaking process is the perfect combination of science and creativity! She is also passionate about creating soap that is free from palm oil and any man-made ingredients, parabens or sulphates.
