Description

Knitting is one of the most versatile, practical and fun textile crafts to learn. Not only is it super easy to learn and build your skills, but its also a great social activity. Once you’ve learned the basics and built up some confidence, you can make anything from dishcloths and scarves, to intricate sweaters and socks. The options are endless!

This workshop is designed for absolute beginners, who are curious about the craft but have yet to pick up a pair of needles.

We’ll learn the basic stitches (knitting, purling, garter stitch, stockinette stitch and ribbing), as well as how to cast on and off; so we can send you on your merry way with a new skill and all the tools you need to finish your first project!

ABOUT TAWNY THREADS

Tawny Threads is a textile studio based in Brisbane, and is operated by Claudia Husband and Chris Hagen. Our main focus is the design and production of textiles in the form of printed, dyed and woven fibres.

Our designs are transferred to the final textile surface through either professional digital printing or traditional hand-dyed methods, and either sewn into garments or homewares, or made available to our customers as lengths of fabric, and can even be custom-made into wallpaper. In our dyeing processes, we endeavour to maintain traditional methods of fabric dyeing, using only natural fibres (cotton, wool, silk, linen, bamboo, hemp and rayon) and natural dye sources such as indigo and turmeric.”

09 April 2018 • Knitting Know-how!

Was great to re-learn knitting again through this workshop! The small class size was a plus because it allowed everyone to get some one-on-one help from Claudia who was a great teacher.
