Who is Bad Frankie?

Bad Frankie is named after the infamous Governor of Van Diemen’s Land, John Franklin, who outlawed small pot stills in the early 19th Century. Unfortunately, this law was written into national law when the country was federated.

It wasn’t until 150 years later when the ‘grandfather of Australian spirits’ Bill Lark overturned the law and had started to produce his own whisky. From Bill, the industry has expanded exponentially and continues to do so into a range of Australian spirits, whiskey, gin, vodka, liqueurs and so on.

❤️❤️❤️Simply love this class and this is the second time for me. Luis is really great and informative, with 5 different Australian Whiskies from easy-going ones like Starward to strong ones like Fleurieu Distillery. The highlight would be Tasmania's First Whisky Lark, not only the whisky is really impressive but the story behind is even greater. The master class really helps us build up our knowledge and appreciation for Australian Whiskies especially for those smaller producers who put their effort and passion in the whisky. It is definitely one of the best whisky classes I've attended.
