The Belli Scolari are placed at three different levels. The Principianti (Beginners) which is suited for Prep and Yr 1 students aged between 5 and 7 years of age. The next level is the Intermedi (Intermediate) and this age group is suited for students from Yr 1 to Yr 5, depending on their previous experience with Italian and how comfortable they feel with the Italian language. The 3rd level is the Avanzati (Advanced) and this group is for children who've had extensive experience with the language and who need a further extension, where grammar, vocabulary and fluency are the main focus. This class has two teachers if there are three or more students at different levels. Otherwise, one teacher will take the class. The focus is on bringing together the differing levels of students to promote unity and acceptance of varying abilities, at the same time grouping the students so they are each working with peers at their level, so they don't feel inadequate. The teachers focus on each group at a time and depending on the difficulty of the lesson the Intermediate group may be with the Advanced or with the Beginners to enhance their understanding and learning of the language. Students will be presented with a variety of styles of learning where children need to use their listening, speaking and thinking processing skills. This is then used in a practical experience so children need to use what they have learnt in class.
