Learn all about the art of the small in this full-day workshop organised by Mosman Community College. If you’ve been keen to try something new, bonsai growing is truly one of the most fascinating hobbies there is.
The artwork, which involves beautiful intricate styling, began in China (not Japan!) in around 700 AD as a means to recreate nature and trees as they are idealised to be. The bonsai making process involves understanding the tree’s character, bringing out its personality, and creating a story out of it.
Bonsai is an art perfected over centuries; but don’t let that fact intimidate you! Anyone is perfectly capable of growing bonsai with the right tools, materials, and instruction. This workshop by Mosman Community College will be led by Judith Sleijpen, a member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture and a passionate enthusiast of garden design. By the end of the day, with Judith’s expert guidance, you will have created a beautiful bonsai tree from scratch and acquired the know-how to care and maintain your plant.
Bonsai for Beginners will run on Saturday, May 12th, from 10am to 4pm. Find ticket prices and more details about the class in the link below.
