Holiday Trend Alert: Resin Jewellery
The latest fashion just made every DIYer a certified trendspotter
Resin hoops have been all the rage since the spring runway shows, as top models sashayed on the catwalk wearing transparent, shimmery pieces by the likes of Chanel, Balenciaga, and Altuzarra. And if Leandra Medine, Ms. Man Repeller herself, is still gramming about it several months later, you know it’s more than just a fad.
That’s right, resin jewellery, from the intricate to the funky, is the hot, new fashion trend that’s caught mainstream attention and made our social feed a lot more interesting.
From one DIY jedi to another, we know what you’re thinking: You’ve been making your own bling way before the fashionistas caught on - and you’re absolutely correct! So we guess this makes you certified trend spotters, eh? Love it.
Whether you’re new to the resin arts or looking to take your jewellery making hobby to the next level, there’s a workshop that’s sure to satisfy your need to craft.
If you’re in Sydney: Head over to Work-Shop Sydney for the always-popular Etsy masterclass by resin-obsessed crazy button hoarder Jodie Dench. If you’re a fan of ButtonUp Designs, you can’t miss this class (on 24th November 2018, 10:30AM to 1:00PM)!
If you’re in Melbourne: Station Street Studio is running an open class (1st December 2018, 2:00 to 4:30PM), where you’ll learn everything from pouring and mixing to finishing.
For the more adventurous types, their two-day workshop (15th and 16th December 2018, 10:00AM to 1:00PM) will introduce you to mould-making techniques, where you’ll get to make your own casts - 20% off if you book with a friend!
