Every year, 170 ceramics studios come together under the ACOS banner to offer a one-of-a-kind experience to all lovers of clay art. As ACOS habitues know, the annual event has birthed many gallery-worthy pieces. Prepare for a massive shot of inspiration.

In the Mud Makers Trail alone last month, pottery enthusiasts were taken around Muddy Girl Studio in The Basin, Tufts Studio and MY Studio in Ringwood, Deanna Roberts Studio in Boronia, Monica Mauer’s MonArt Ceramics in Kilsyth, and Clay Sisters in Croydon. Phew!

And what could be better than creating your own ceramic art from scratch? Making about a dozen or more unique pieces, that’s what.

Over the course of six weeks beginning next weekend, join Muddy Girl herself, Claire Johnson, and get a belated dose of #ACOS2019. A warning: It will be messy. But Claire’s studio at the foot of Mt Dandenong (about a 40-minute drive from Melbourne CBD) is worth the trip. It’s truly an oasis for makers on a cool spring day, if we do say so ourselves.
