Water-wise Gardening

Description

There’s much more to waterwise gardening than plant choice. Learn about how plants grow and the way they have evolved to survive our hot and dry summers. Plants will tell you how they are faring, all you need is to learn to read the signs. Look at ways to ensure that every litre of water applied to the garden is stored in the soil to be available for plants - this means looking at soil improvement, mulching and water delivery for new and established gardens. Irrigation systems and water tanks are also discussed.

Watch it grow at 24 and below, watch it thrive over 25, help it survive over 35.

Presented by Diana Cotter

Diana trained in Amenity Horticulture in Britain over 25 years ago… back in the days when it was believed any garden problem could be answered with a chemical spray! She set up her own business designing, planting and maintaining gardens in London.

All this experience was brought to Australia 17 years ago, and much more has been learnt since. Diana has presented workshops for Sustainable Gardening Australia for several years and has recently joined BAAG as a garden consultant, specialising in sustainable design and advising on new approaches to gardening… all without the slightest hint of a spray!
