Participants of this Saturday class are invited to join Matteo at the nearby Barossa Farmers Market at 8am where you will have a chance to meet our wonderful producers and collect the produce for your class. The meeting point is at the information booth inside the market entrance.
You will have time to visit the rest of the market on your own before meeting Matteo back at Casa Carboni for your class at 9am. We offer tea and coffee before the class begins.
In this hands-on cooking class you will prepare an Italian long lunch menu inspired by the region of Piemonte using beauiful local produce sourced from the Barossa Farmers Market & the farm gate such as:
Matteo’s philosophy is to teach recipes that can be easily replicated at home so you can prepare these wonderful dishes for your friends and family. Whether you are a beginner or confident in the kitchen, Matteo keeps calendar class sizes to small intimate groups so he can ensure you get the most out of the class.
After the class you will be seated in the Enoteca and dine on the wonderful dishes you have just prepared with a glass of European wine and Illy coffee.
You don’t need to bring anything just wear comfy clothes and a big appetite! If you would like to invite a friend to join you for the Italian Long Lunch at midday after the Taste of Italy class on Saturdays please advise at the time of booking, the cost is $85 per person and includes the 4 course lunch, a glass of wine and coffee.
Really enjoyed our experience at Casa Carboni, Mateo's experience and expertise as a chef and an instructor are clear in the quality of the food we prepared and the style in which he ran the class. He certainly demystified the art of making pasta and gnocchi so that it is easy to do at home - I've already done so a couple of times! The venue, a shop/cafe/wine bar, is delightful so even if you can't squeeze in a class, make sure you drop in for a coffee when you're in Angaston.
Learning how to make gnocchi was excellent - and it tasted fantastic! It was such a good experience and I'd definitely recommend it to a friend. Amazing food and our teacher was fantastic!
What a great way to spend a Saturday morning - there were nine of us learning how to make gnocchi and pasta. It was the first time I had tasted gnocchi - and what an introduction!! It was sensational!! The dressing for veal starter was so tasty and the filling for our ravioli was scrumptious - looking forward to making my own this weekend and hopefully will be just as yummy
