Description

This course is suitable for all skill levels in the kitchen, from the enthusiastic home cook to the more experienced chef who would like to know how to bring their favourite kitchen tools back to life with a razor sharp edge.

Bring some of your blunt knives and if you own a whetstone and/or a steel bring them along. Basic knife skills is how to correclty hold and handle a knife, different methods are better for different people, with practice you can get very fast at chopping. You will learn some great skills for showing off to friends and family and making beautiful garnishes for your dishes. The learning outcomes for this course are: 

  • How to properly care for your knives
  • The correct way to sharpen different knives and fix chipped or dented blades
  • Finger placement on the food to be cut - keeping your fingers behind the blade
  • Learn classic knife cuts like julienne, brunoise and even turned vegetables!
  • Create a raw food salad with simple dressing and seasoning skills

There will be time at the end of the lesson to enjoy your delicious salad you created and take home any leftovers for later (packaging will be provided).

We can supply whetstones and steels for use in the class. Please let us know if any attendees have any food allergies.

Tommy has 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with an eclectic range of trade experience from 3 Michelin star fine dinning, competing in national competitions, silver service waiter, to being the executive chef of an internationally renowned boutique coffee roasting company with a multi site café set-up and an emphasis on fine food.  He studied full-time in England and gained industry recognised qualifications in hospitality, management and kitchen supervision in the form of a BTEC National Diploma and level 2 and 3 NVQ in food preparation and cooking.

Celebration Cooking with Jessica Pedemont is now offering cooking, chocolate, cake decorating classes in our fun classroom Sydney based kitchen.

Celebration Cooking offers a range of classes from pastry cooking to cake decorating and sculpture. Classes run are able to run 7 days week and are taught at our purpose built kitchen in Canterbury in Sydney's inner west. Classes run for 3hrs+ depending on the topic.A variety of cake decorating and cooking/baking lessons in a fun filled atmosphere where the utensils, equipment, aprons and ovens are all supplied. Over a dozen classes to chose from with classes made to order for 4 or more people.
