CERES - Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies, is an award winning, not-for-profit, sustainability centre located on 4.5 hectares on the Merri Creek in East Brunswick, Melbourne.

It is also a thriving community, an urban farm, Australia’s largest deliverer of environmental education, an event and conference venue and a place rich with social and cultural diversity. CERES is recognised as an international leader in community and environmental practice.

Built on a decommissioned rubbish tip that was once a bluestone quarry, today CERES is a vibrant eco-oasis. 350,000 people visit CERES each year. Many more engage with us through our Sustainable Schools program which takes sustainable education into schools across the state.

CERES’ green technology displays, buildings, education and training programs and social enterprises (CERES’ Organic Market, Café, Permaculture Nursery and Fair Food organics delivery) demonstrate food security, sustainable agriculture, energy efficiencies, renewables and water conservation in action.

I enjoyed Erin's energy however the information was more basic that what I had hoped. Also the slide presentation contained lots of errors in the words and spelling and we were given a copy of an older version with slides missing. I would respectfully suggest that if money is charged for a workshop, then preparation is appropriate.

Donna provided a comprehensive intro to Permaculture as well as valuable 'take home' detail of ideas that are easy to implement. I felt inspired by class discussions and the facilitator was relaxed and open to participation. There was a good balance between theory, film and practical examples through walks around the site at CERES. I have already recommended this course to others. The class room in the first session left a little to be desired. Even if the 'train' classroom was basic we could have got more from interaction by facing each other/configuring the tables and chairs differently.

I enjoyed the class. Is very informative for a beginner like me. Ken is very helpful throughout the class. I love the pizza I created and the bread. I would recommend to everyone who are into sourdough. Excellent!
