CERES - Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies, is an award winning, not-for-profit, sustainability centre located on 4.5 hectares on the Merri Creek in East Brunswick, Melbourne.

It is also a thriving community, an urban farm, Australia’s largest deliverer of environmental education, an event and conference venue and a place rich with social and cultural diversity. CERES is recognised as an international leader in community and environmental practice.

Built on a decommissioned rubbish tip that was once a bluestone quarry, today CERES is a vibrant eco-oasis. 350,000 people visit CERES each year. Many more engage with us through our Sustainable Schools program which takes sustainable education into schools across the state.

CERES’ green technology displays, buildings, education and training programs and social enterprises (CERES’ Organic Market, Café, Permaculture Nursery and Fair Food organics delivery) demonstrate food security, sustainable agriculture, energy efficiencies, renewables and water conservation in action.

CERES is a model for a future with sustainability, innovation and connectedness at its heart.

Come, be welcome, you never know what you will find on our rambling paths.

18 October 2017 • Cheddar Cheese Making with Cheeselinks

Thank you Luisa and the girls from cheeselinks. An enjoyable class that has created a lot of discussion amongst my family.

14 October 2017 • Vegan Cheese Making with Nase Supplitt

I really enjoyed this course and learning how to make vegan 'cheese'. The variety of foods that we made in one day was very impressive, with some things ending up like pate and spreads, but all the flavours were great. It was also a really great opportunity to share and explore a range of topics on a vegan diet with others and the teacher. Nase was really entertaining and had lots of great tips and information about vegan cooking. His style was very relaxed and friendly.

01 October 2017 • Organic Vegetable Gardening with Donna Livermore...

Such a great course! As a complete beginner I've gone from classic plant killer to over enthusiastic gardener; planting herbs, vegetables and companion plants to try to keep everything alive and thriving. Donna explains everything from basic principles, whilst also answering more advanced and complex questions for advanced gardeners. Soil has never seemed so interesting ;-) Highly recommended, if you've ever considered it, just do it ! Totally worth it.
