Smudging is a sacred art of using dried plants and herbs to help purify and cleanse a space of negative energies. In this workshop we will look at a selection of plant materials appropriate for smudging, learn to smudge a space safely and bundling techniques to preserve the beauty of the plants. There will be some time dedicated for meditation as we craft and create our own unique smudge sticks.

Trainer Bio:

Gemma Macri is a DIY creative and loves finding ways to incorporate herbs into her craft. She enjoys experimenting with herbal infusions, drying herbs for tea and collecting freshly scented pine to create smudge sticks that reflect the seasons

Gemma is a really nice person, otherwise I would be giving this a lower score. Perhaps our expectations were a bit high, but we felt we left with less information that we have in books on the subject at home. Gemma is a bit disorganised and could definitely brush up on her ability to engage and enthuse her audience, her knowledge of plants is quite basic and we definitely expected more. I had invited my daughter to the event so we took it as a time to catch up, otherwise I would have felt it was a wasted morning.

I spent a delightful couple of hours being taught about smudge sticks, and indeed, making one of my own. The atmosphere at Ceres is such a positive one it creates an excellent learning environment. I have been motivated by the class to find out more for myself, surely a complement to the teacher! Thank you Ceres for your commitment to education if I can afford it I will return for other classes.
