Why would you attend?

The purpose of this photography course is to rapidly transform your photography skills from a place of knowing absolutely nothing. You only need a digital camera that can shoot in manual mode - 99% of all DSLR / Mirrorless cameras have manual mode.

Travel Photography During The Day

This course runs for 3 hours and we'll finish at our favourite "postcard Melbourne" photographic hot spot. You'll learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance and controlling the light. We’ve spent countless hours on the streets of Melbourne discovering secret laneways, rooftops and ever changing street art. Our focus is on your photography education, as opposed to site seeing, but you’ll be taken to some of coolest “off the beaten track” photographic hot spots in Melbourne. Travel photography for us is all about learning how to use your camera with a minimal amount of gear, being discreet, thinking quickly, finding unique subjects, capturing the moment and documenting your environment with an artistic eye.

You Can Be The Worlds Best Photographer And The Worlds Worst Teacher At The Same Time.

Finding a good teacher has always been something I've struggled with. At school and and university. What makes a good teacher in any subject? I believe it comes down to three things:

1. A proven expert in their field. Emphasis on "proven."

2. The ability to break down complicated subjects into digestible, understandable, logical chunks.

3. Awareness. Identify where their students are struggling in order to apply a correction straight away.

Here's what I've learnt from my own personal experience with education. You can be the worlds best expert and the worlds worst teacher at the same time. Talent does not necessarily equate to "quality communicator." And self-aware communication is the key to teaching. I believe that the fastest path to becoming truly proficient in any subject is to teach it. I've been teaching photography since 2011 and have spent considerable time improving my ability to teach you photography effectively.

What If You Could Create Your Own Phenomenal Photographs? And Honestly Take Credit For them?

Today your phone can take absolutely beautiful photographs ... without you really doing anything. Ie find a beautiful sunset and press the shoot button... done. Wouldn't it be a fulfilling experience to truly know to yourself that you have taken your time to create an image in your own way. Wouldn't it be a nice feeling to take true ownership of your photography? To understand why your photograph looks the way it does and to know that you are the one who intentionally made the decisions create it that way. It's the unique human element that you are providing your viewers. Rather than the generic creation that your phone makes for you... that you pretend is your own.

The DSLR and Mirrorless Express Photography Course Is Aimed At Travellers And Explorers.
The true value of this photography course comes from the immediate feedback you will receive about your own photographs. When you have an expert right by your side you can learn without frustration! Have you ever wondered why your photographs appear too dark or too bright in automatic mode? This is because your camera is “metering” the light without understanding what YOU want to do with the photograph. It makes a mathematic calculation and acts on that. On our photography courses in Melbourne you’ll learn about finding the best light and how to control it so you can see how it changes the look of your images. No more blurry photographs or missing that gorgeous sunset. More importantly, you’ll learn how to use your digital camera in manual mode. Over time we’ve refined our manual mode teaching philosophy again and again. In fact its simplicity is something we’re quite proud of. You’ll learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and controlling the light with your camera. Our photography courses in Melbourne are constantly evolving as we discover new hidden photographic hot spots in Melbourne, join us and capture your own unique photographs!

Your Lightroom teacher will be National Geographic featured photographer Daniel Bilsborough. Online, Lifetime Access. $499. In-person $299 Melbourne Australia.

Walk the path of creating your own Masterpiece:

This course is not for the typical content creator, it’s for people who intend to create their own unique photographic masterpiece. At the end of the workshop, I will develop 6 images from National Geographic to show you exactly how they were processed in Lightroom. My aim is not to teach you how to become an expert in every little corner of the Lightroom application. This course is not “software training.” It’s about learning the fundamentals of this artistic tool extremely well. It’s about simplifying this complex software so that you can focus on creating your masterpiece.

Your masterpiece is not created in Lightroom, Lightroom is used to extrapolate your work more fully. The real value of Lightroom is with the self-learning that you do inside it. It provides a path for you to create your masterpiece body of work. This path is one of self discovery, where you learn to recognise and own what you love.

You do not need a university degree to create your own unique photographic masterpiece.

One thing that’s never discussed in-depth with digital post production is the potential for empowering yourself to self learn in photography. This is one of the fundamental teachings of this photography masterclass, and the thing that differentiates it from absolutely every other course that exists.

This course is about setting you off on the path by yourself, to create your own unique masterpiece. It’s not about copying the latest preset trend. A unique masterpiece does not use a particular colour palette because it’s trending on Tiktok.

A unique masterpiece is printed, huge, and brought to life in your physical reality. But it’s not something that happens overnight. It’s a path you walk.

This course is for those who are new to digital photography, it’s a one stop shop to throw you into the world of digital post production. You can skip the months of back and forth on YouTube. This workshop will provide a solid base from which you can begin your journey towards creating your own photographic masterpiece.

“Learn everything I know about post production in less than a day. ” We’ll be working on photographic management (how to efficiently manage 400,000 photographs) and development, you will be working on my personal RAW files.

This series of photography courses have been running since 2011 and are currently the highest rated and most reviewed photography courses in Melbourne. You can see over 365 reviews on WeTeachMe, Google, TripAdvisor and Airbnb Experiences.

You will be working directly with me in a small group of 4-8 students.

A great practical class full of usual information on how to use your camera properly in manual mode. Daniel helped each of us understand how our individual cameras worked as we took photos in different settings around the city. Highly recommended for anyone just starting out or with some background knowledge
