Taught by Ruth Woods from Craft School Oz
Basket making is an ancient craft throughout the world and Ruth has loved exploring this craft for several years.
Ruth has drawn her inspiration from many sources and has learnt the skills from travelling and meeting women who have shared their knowledge. After visiting South East Asia, spending time on a floating village working with the water hyacinth plant, living in Arnhem Land and working with the Yolngu people for 18 months and being a member and active participant of the Basket Makers of Victoria she has bought together various styles and developed her own designs and methods and is now sharing her knowledge.
She works with plant fibres, recycled fabrics, wool and even paper.
In this 3 hour workshop you will learn
Using beautiful coloured raffia and various yarn, string and thread you will create a little basket to take home!

Highlight was the friendly atmosphere, delicious cake and the creative sensation that hit me as I walked up the stairs. Inspirational
I learned the basics of making a basket and with Ruth's knowledgeable and careful instruction I came away with a handmade object I was proud of. I also came away armed with information on how to source my own supplies and take the techniques I learned on the day further. The day was both relaxing and invigorating.
Excellent and thoroughly enjoyable.
