Description

Learn to carve rubber stamps and use your stamp to design your own fabric with Brisbane-based printmaker Kay Watanabe.

Kay will teach participants how to design and carve their own rubber stamps and create a repeated pattern on fabrics using either stamp pads or fabric ink.

Students will learn how to create a rubber stamp that will form a quarter or half of their motif. Students will then carve their stamp and print onto their fabric using their new stamp in a repeated pattern.

Participants will be printing onto a 50cm by 50cm piece of fabric.

All materials provided including fabric, inks and use of tools for the day. Take home your completed stamp, printed fabric and the confidence to continue with this craft at home.

This was a very enjoyable short course. All materials were supplied and ready on the tables for us to get started. Kay took us through the steps very clearly and had examples for us to learn from, and then the fun began. I think everyone took home a carved block plus a piece of printed calico to use and hopefully to inspire us to go on with the craft. I certainly plan to.
