Description

Learn the basics of printmaking and carve your own block to print with in this Block Printing workshop with Kay Watanabe.

Kay will guide participants through the design process for block printing focusing on the nuances of this beautiful art form. Participants will learn how to take their design from paper and apply it their block or lino and then carve the design using special tools.

Participants will also be able to print their works and learn how to apply ink and achieve the best print possible.

Block printing is a fantastic skill to add to your craft repertoire and can be used for more than just printing on paper.  Kay will also discuss other applications.

 All materials provided. If you wear glasses don't forget them.

This programme of craft workshops, demonstrations and Q&A sessions provides a fantastic opportunity for people to learn new skills, showcase local talent and add extra creativity to Brisbane.

Workshops we have had and will continue to facilitate are; Rag Rugs, Block Printing, Screen Printing, Terrariums, Stamp Carving, Fabric Design, Lace, Embroidery, Crochet, Shrinky Dinks, Polymer Clay, Sterling Silver, Paper Flowers, Resin, Origami, Brass Etching, Brooch Making Techniques, Kokedama, Journal Making, Weaving.

These workshops are conducted by some of Brisbane’s finest artisans to give you a hands on approach to learning your new skill. With many classes also providing the materials, all you need to do is turn up and start creating!

Enclosed Footwear is required by participants at every workshop. Hands On Brisbane reserves the right to refuse entry to a workshop if the attendee is not wearing suitable attire.

Participants are required to arrive on time.  Our workshops will start on time.  If you are not attending on the day please contact Hands On Brisbane using the contact information in the mail out that is sent a few days before the event.  If you are unable to attend on the day please pass your ticket on to a friend.  As we prepare in advance for the number of attendees we are unable to offer you a refund.
