Discover the ancient art of coil weaving basketry using plants from your garden and a range of other fibres.
In this workshop you will learn how to start a basic weave, stitch techniques, how to work with natural garden based fibres and a range of natural commercial fibres. Participants will create cordage and weave your very own small treasure basket to store your trinkets or jewellery.

Workshop level: Beginner

All materials are provided.

Participants are working with natural fibres and may like to dress in clothing that can messy, or bring an apron.

Suitable for: Adults and children 12+.  Participants under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult and both must purchase a ticket.

The Wise Foundation is proud to present Hands On Brisbane.

This programme of craft workshops, demonstrations and Q&A sessions provides a fantastic opportunity for people to learn new skills, showcase local talent and add extra creativity to Brisbane.

Workshops we have had and will continue to facilitate are; Rag Rugs, Block Printing, Screen Printing, Terrariums, Stamp Carving, Fabric Design, Lace, Embroidery, Crochet, Shrinky Dinks, Polymer Clay, Sterling Silver, Paper Flowers, Resin, Origami, Brass Etching, Brooch Making Techniques, Kokedama, Journal Making, Weaving.

These workshops are conducted by some of Brisbane’s finest artisans to give you a hands on approach to learning your new skill. With many classes also providing the materials, all you need to do is turn up and start creating!

Enclosed Footwear is required by participants at every workshop. Hands On Brisbane reserves the right to refuse entry to a workshop if the attendee is not wearing suitable attire.

Participants are required to sign a waiver at the workshop they attend. Participants are to follow instructions, safety precautions and advice when given.

Participants are required to arrive on time.  Our workshops will start on time.  If you are not attending on the day please contact Hands On Brisbane using the contact information in the mail out that is sent a few days before the event.  If you are unable to attend on the day please pass your ticket on to a friend.  As we prepare in advance for the number of attendees we are unable to offer you a refund.
