This class was brilliant! I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring writing or illustrating a children's picture book. Tull is well-prepared for every class with take-home notes, pre-prepared demonstrations, and individualised assignments. He nurtures each person's ideas by giving informed advice based on his own experience; this allowed our class to all progress our ideas no matter what stage we were at. The small class size means you get one-to-one feedback but can also discuss topics as a group. There's a friendly, warm atmosphere to each class which is helped by the cosy and artistic interior of the Malvern School of Art. The class was hugely beneficial for me and I was very impressed by its facilitation. Thank you!

The course was delivered very well - couldn’t have asked for more!! Love the small group size, it’s pretty comprehensive and it can get intense (in a good way) yet you are free to go at your own pace. One of my highlights the past year!!

It’s been such a blessing to be in Tull’s course! He can turn your dream of writing & illustrating your first picture book into a reality! From drafting a script, to designing a character, and storyboarding, then all the way to how to publish and market your book..:every single aspect of publishing a picture book is covered! Being an award-winning author and illustrator himself, Tull is very generous in sharing his industry knowledge and insights, and whether we had a question about fine arts, or illustration, or writing, or publishing, or even teddy bears, he had an answer! Ten weeks felt short, but the discipline of getting something done every week with useful feedback gave us the momentum to continue working on our project at our own supercharged pace until it’s done (hopefully within a year). The course is reasonably priced, and it is probably the only picture book course available in Melbourne. Highly recommended this course for those who has a story to tell in picture book format but don’t know where to start.
