My name is Nicoletta (Niki) Louca and I look forward to assisting you learn about Greek cuisine and cooking. It is so much more than souvlaki and baklava.
From a very young age my sisters and I were always encouraged (actually forced) to learn to cook from our mother and grandmother. Growing up in a Greek-Cypriot household, it was "our duty" to learn to cook. We were taken to farms to get fresh milk, then take it back home to make fresh haloumi cheese and ‘anari’ – ricotta cheese.
I then decided I should do something with this passion, so I opened my own café and catering business from scratch. I did that for a number of years and have since sold the business. I am still involved with food, by way of private catering and private teaching in Greek cooking.
Loved this class and Niki was a brilliant teacher. great family like environment to learn in. Best part was sitting down and getting to enjoy all the yummy food we made.
learned to make wonderful Greek dishes that are simple to prepare.
The instructor was very friendly, informative. The problem is I was hoping for a hands on experience and it was not.She pretty much made everything and kept everything that was made.No it was not worth it's money at all!For what I payed I really expected more!very expensive !
Hi Vivian, my apologies for taking so long to reply but I did not see your comments till a few days ago. I am sorry you were disappointed in the class you did and would like to take the opportunity explain a few things. Due to health regulations, I am not allowed to give food for participants to take away with them, but participants are welcomed to eat, whilst in my premises as much as they want. The cost of my classes are based on the cost of my ingredients, my time for preparation prior to the class and also my time to clear up afterwards. Although the classes may run for 3 -6 hours depending on what you do, there are hours of preparation prior to the class and I feel my prices are fair and competitive in the market place. Its something I am very conscious of, and something I keep an eye on constantly. To be honest with you, I encourage all of my clients to participate as much as possible so they learn first hand, so I apologize if you felt you had no participation. If my memory serves me right, that night we had a one on one class and remember you helping me. I would like to offer you to join me if you can, March 04 2017, for another class on Greek sweets - complimentary.
