My Green Garden
My Green Garden provides a local and experienced resource for talks, demonstrations and workshops on many aspects of sustainable gardening practices, especially in the area of growing food.
Presentations are to both children and adults, through schools, libraries, Probus and other community groups, neighbourhood houses, garden clubs, shopping centres, council-funded information sessions and holiday programs. Maria of My Green Garden is also a regular presenter for Bulleen Art & Garden and for the not-for-profit organisation Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA).
My Green Garden also runs classes and workshops from Maria's home and garden in Donvale, in suburban Melbourne.
Maria is a great teacher, very personable and engaging. Thanks for taking us through the process of making passata, it was an entertaining and delicious lesson!
Excellent workshop and excellent value for money! Maria shares her extensive knowledge so generously! No matter how much or little you know about the gardening, everyone will benefit and leave inspired to do more and do better in their garden. Thank you Maria :)
There were so many highlights to this workshop that I can't possibly pick only one. We learnt so much about how to make tomato passata: from coring the tomatoes, boiling them, pressing them to separate seeds and skin from the fleshy bits, bottling, and the final hot water bath to preserve the passata in their jars. Morning tea was a selection of preserves to try along with a cup of tea or coffee; lunch was pasta and a taste of the passata we had just been making - delicious! Our group had such a fantastic time chatting away as we worked through the different stages with Maria and her family's patient guidance that the whole day was just filled with fun! Oh, and yes, we all got plenty of the passata to take home! (once the bottles had cooled)
