Cameras for Painters
A one-day workshop on camera basics for painters: Everything from taking better reference photos, to documenting your work for social media.
During this hands-on class, you'll be guided through how to operate a digital camera: starting from fundamental principals, through to taking reference images and finally documenting your own work.
In the first half of the day we'll go through some camera fundamentals and basics. We'll talk about exposure, lenses, and the equipment you need (and don't need). Using these skills, we will take a photo of a scene, fit for your next painting.
In the second half of the day we'll explore some approaches and challenges when documenting your work for archival purposes, reproduction, and for sharing on social media. Using the artwork you've brought in, we will practice how to take different images from the one artwork.
