This recording will be a chance to hear from seven of Melbourne's most talented and artistic women, leading the way in the Arts industry.
This will be an opportunity for everyone to learn about the challenges our panelists encounter and how being women within the Arts sector has affected their careers.
Panelists will discuss topics including:
- Male Structures in the workplace
- Female Structures. Do women really support women?
- The perfect image of a woman. Rejection vs Perfection
There will be live performances from our panel

MEET THE PANEL:
Sheena Chundee - Artistic Director, Rebel Stepz
Sheena is a former Ballerina and Choreographer who trained and danced with The Royal Ballet and dance companies such as English National Ballet and The Australian Ballet.
Sheena went onto work as a Sound Engineer and whilst completing a BA in Journalism and Creative Writing.
Sheena founded Rebel Stepz, a creative arts organisation that designs workshops, events and programs for schools, youth groups and community organisations, as well as offering production services to corporate groups. Rebel Stepz consists of dancers, actors, designers, stage technicians, artists and musicians.
Jo Walker - Content Strategist
Jo Walker is a Melbourne-based content strategist who's worked with brands such as Spotlight, Medibank and Doc Martens to tell stories and nab audiences in print, digital, podcast and social media.
She was Editor of Frankie Magazine and Editor-in-Chief of Frankie Press for over a decade, collecting two Australian Magazine of the Year awards and three Women's Fashion Awards at the Australian Magazine Awards. She also features in the book Queens of Print: Interviews with Australia's Iconic Women's Magazine Editors.
Lisette Drew - Stage Manager and Writer
Lisette Drew is a writer and stage manager graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Production, receiving the Friends of VCA Limelighters Award and the Ron Rosanove Travelling Scholarship for her theatre work.
Lisette is currently a stage manager bringing stories to life on stage for Melbourne Theatre Company. She has worked on twenty shows with the company, many being new Australian plays. For the last three years, Lisette has toured theatre productions to young people in Victorian and Tasmanian regional communities.
In 2020, Lisette's passion for writing has come centre stage with her play, Breakwater, being shortlisted for Edythe Brook Cooper Playwriting Competition and her short story chosen for Melbourne City of Literature Wildlife Postcards Project. Lisette is a member of Writer’s Victoria.
Deepa Mani - Artistic Director, Chandralaya Dance.
Deepa is the Artistic Director of Chandralaya School of Dance, an Indian Classical and Contemporary Dance School in Melbourne aimed at nurturing and developing the inherent artistic interests of each student.
Deepa's background has included IT Management and for the last 17 years, Deepa has been focussing on Business Transformation and Architecture for medium to large sized organisations.
Deepa made the move 2.5 yrs ago and switched careers from IT to the Arts and she has been loving the challenge of startups and nurturing small business'. Deepa believes that her knowledge of IT has given her all the tools needed to become an entrepreneur.
Samantha Sharpe - Singer/Songwriter
After stints as a Personal Trainer, Baker, and Children's Entertainer, Samantha finally found her calling as a Singer/Songwriter. Sam believed that following her passion and being brave enough to "jump in" was the best way forward.
Sam has always entertained the idea of being a CEO, and believes she is, "just on a smaller scale".
Sam has had much success with live performances and releasing her first EP in 2019 which included five original songs which were independently released and recorded.
Sam has have a diploma in pop music and performance, a certificate in music management, alongside assorted qualifications from industries she no longer works in but have assisted her in her growth nonetheless.
Nat Rowe - Director, Revolutionary Drones Records
Nat is a Melbourne-based creative focused on management and marketing.
In 2016 she founded Revolutionary Drones Records providing artist management services, marketing plans, and digital solutions including web hosting and design. She has worked with a range of talented artists from musicians to fire & hoop performers.
Nat is able to create an online presence, creating single page designs through to multi level sites ensuring site strategies and designs include SEO requirements.
Nat is also a skilled strength trainer, running her own boot camps. Nat is also a keen craft maker, designing fashion accessories.
Beray Uzunbay - Artist
Beray is a Melbourne based painter. She creates landscapes using soft pastels, teaches, curates and exhibits her work. In 2020 she curated and co-curated AFTER DAWN exhibition at Albert St Gallery and the Ramadan exhibition at Islamic Museum of Australia, respectively.
Beary's art is all about exploring human emotions, and making commentary on important socio-political issues. She draws inspiration from the post-impressionist movement and from artists like Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet.
Beray was also a Creative of the Year 2019 Finalist for Australian Muslim Achievement Awards, alongside Nazeem Hussain and Maryam Popal Zahid.
This is an 18+ event .
- Attendees will access a recording of a very special event lead by women who work within the Arts sector. The topics will be controversial, the responses thought provoking, sad, funny and honest. This is an opportunity to learn what life is like for women in the Arts but also the challenges, we as women all face.
- Live performances, informative discussions and insights into racism, inequality, gender bias and more.
No dress code.
Everyone is welcome to access this recording as long as you are 18+

Everyone is welcome. There is no experience necessary for any of our classes.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Rebel Stepz or organised by Rebel Stepz must agree to these terms and conditions.
1.) LIABILITY WAIVER
I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Rebel Stepz.
2.) PHOTO & VIDEO
I agree to give Rebel Stepz unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Rebel Stepz classes and events or on Rebel Stepz’s premises. (For use of Rebel Stepz marketing materials).
Classes are non-refundable.
In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund or credit.
WAIVER: On agreeing to attend any Rebel Stepz® event, & the reading of this document, you waive & release Rebel Stepz® from any & all claims, without limitation, for damage, loss, expense, costs or compensation whether for personal, student or visitor injury, property damage, losses &/or death that may arise from your/ student participation in any class. You accept & agree that you/students will abide by all safety instructions & recommendations, whether oral or in writing & hereby release Rebel Stepz® & its servants, representatives, contractors, agents & employees from all liability & responsibility for any injury, property damage, losses &/or death that may occur during the class/event within &/or outside the class premises.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: You shall make no attempt to approach Rebel Stepz staff for any reason other that inquiring about other classes/events on the Rebel Stepz premises. Further inquiries should be directed to Sheena Chundee, Rebel Stepz Director. Clients must not approach any Rebel Stepz team member in a personal capacity.
Class plans devised by instructors & Rebel Stepz must not be replicated by own personal business/company.
Rebel Stepz® advises that there is a“No Phone” policy during classes. Rebel Sepz alone shall have the right to produce photographs, images &/or video clips (“images”) taken by Rebel Stepz® during class(es) which shall remain the sole property of Rebel Stepz® & such images maybe used by Rebel Stepz® for promotional services provided. Rebel Stepz® confirms that no names will accompany any images taken during class(es) unless agreed by the guest/client. Guests may request that they are not photographed or filmed during events/workshops but this must be made clear to patrons before the workshop/event.
Defamatory comments about Rebel Stepz & all its patrons is strictly forbidden.
If images and information is by approved for sharing by Rebel Stepz, they must include the Rebel Stepz name & be linked, where applicable to www.rebelstepzarts.com, our Instagram, and/or our Facebook Page/ Social Media accounts.
All guests/clients are bound to a confidentiality condition imposed by Rebel Stepz®. Guests are advised not to replicate events, workshops, sessions, routines, exercises, performances or classes organised by Rebel Stepz® for their own or anyone else’s personal gain. No information concerning Rebel Stepz® must be passed on. This includes event management, ideas/plans, choreography, contacts, merchandise, designs.
PAYMENT: All ticket sales or invoices must be cleared in full. Late payment fees apply. Failure to do so will result in exemption from the class/event & immediate legal action.
Rebel Stepz® reserves the right to change or cancel up to & including the date of the class if unforeseen circumstances occur. Refunds only apply to classes cancelled by Rebel Stepz.
Rebel Stepz® is under no obligation to issue refunds if guests are late, cancel, or do not turn up for class(es)/events.
By reading this document & attending classes/events of Rebel Stepz®, you the client will abide by all the above terms & conditions. Breaching of this contract, by you, the client, will result in immediate legal action. Please be aware that this contract is an on-going legal document & is active after & during your time with Rebel Stepz.
