With zines, anyone can be an author, editor, artist and publish their own small-circulation book, magazine or comic. In this 3-hour workshop you'll have the opportunity to learn about making a small zine (A7) with 8 pages. It requires no sewing and is super simple to put together. The class will also cover themes and how to design a zine. At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to print 10 copies of your own two-colour zine on a variety of paper options.
The best bit about making zines on the Risograph is having the opportunity to play with the wild spot colours that you can't get with digital printing. The affordability of Risograph printing makes it especially suitable for small print runs.
This class is presented by Jo Ellis, who has been making Risograph art since 2008.

The Rizzeria is a non-profit collective run by people who are designers, artists, zine-makers, print-makers, animators and creative entrepreneurs. We own a two-colour Risograph press which people are welcome to come in and use with the assistance of a volunteer. Over the past eight years we have helped people print their graphic design assignments, posters, comics, invitations, zines, art prints, CD covers and much more.
Our Marrickville space also functions as a retail outlet for Rizzeria members and local artists. We run workshops in risograph printing, bookbinding, screenprinting, watercolour, illustration and much more.
