Introduction to Power Tools

Next Available: Sun, 20 May 8:00AM
4.0 hours

She Skills workshops are designed by women, for women.  We want you to feel confident enough to imagine, design and create great things.

In this 4 hour introductory class you will create your own woodworking project that you will feel proud to hang on your wall.  We teach the use of a range of hand and power tools in a safe, encouraging and social environment with other like minded women.  Check out our facebook page to see what you can expect.

You don't need any prior experience to attend.  Complete beginners are welcome, as are those that already have some skills.  You can always learn something new, and maybe you can teach us a thing or two.  She Skills is building a community of confident and capable women, who are happy to get outside their comfort zone and take on a challenge.

We are proud members of the Maker Movement.  In a world of rampant consumption and keeping up with the latest trends on Instagram, the simple art of making something with your own hands can bring you immeasurable pleasure. And if it’s made well, it might just last you a lifetime.

11 March 2018 • Introduction to Power Tools

My sister and I recently participated in the Introduction to Power Tools workshop. We had the best time. We learned a lot in an environment that we felt comfortable in. We ended up with a finished product that we proudly say we made ourselves. Meg was a great teacher and explained things clearly, she was a great support for all of us. I fully recommend this course to any woman who wants to learn the basics.

Great fun but some serious learning too. Suitable for women with no prior experience of power tools but with a desire to learn. Very supportive environment. They even have a support dog.

I really enjoyed the morning. Meg and Alison were helpful, friendly, inclusive and encouraging. As a teacher myself I thought that the way Meg ran the workshop was excellent. She started with an explanation of what would happen in the workshop, discussed the expectations (WHS etc.) and what aims/outcomes would hopefully be achieved. I will definitely be back for another workshop.
