Description

She Skills workshops are designed by women, for women.  We want you to feel confident enough to imagine, design and create great things.

This class follows on from our introductory course and is designed to expand your knowledge and skills, and build your confidence so you can take on more complex projects.

In this full day INTERMEDIATE class you will learn how to design and custom build your own work bench, using a range of power tools including a drill, drop saw and jig saw. Benches can be built up to a maximum size of 2400mm X 600mm (2.4m X 0.6m). You decide the size of the bench according to the space in your home. Castors can be bought on the day should you wish to make your work bench mobile. We can arrange for transport to get your bench home (at your cost), or you disassemble the bench to transport it in your car. We are happy to store your bench for a week or so if you can't arrange your own transport on the day.

Come along and build your own bench or bring your friend, sister, flatmate, mother, daughter or partner and build a bench together.

We teach in a safe, encouraging and social environment with other like minded women.  You shouldn't expect to go home an expert, but you will gain an insight into what's possible with practice!!

She Skills is building a community of confident and capable women, who are happy to get outside their comfort zone and take on a challenge.

We are proud members of the Maker Movement.  In a world of rampant consumption and keeping up with the latest trends on Instagram, the simple art of making something with your own hands can bring you immeasurable pleasure. And if it’s made well, it might just last you a lifetime.

15 April 2017 • Build Your Own Work Bench

This is a great day that lets you practice skills and learn new ones. Yes, this class teaches you how to use power tools. Yes, you walk away with an awesome work bench. But for me, the best part of this class is the way it encourages you think differently about building with wood. Your confidence grows and you start to learn how to problem solve.
