Description

This is an 8-week Porcelain Small Objects & Wearables course held on 8 x Tuesday evenings, 6.30 - 8.30pm. Repeated 4 terms per year. Level: All levels welcome!

Learn to make unique wearable porcelain and/or small objects with award-winning ceramic artist Pilar Rojas who has created this unusual 8-week course especially for Slow Clay Centre. Pilar will carefully guide you to create porcelain objects from a variety of techniques including shallow moulds, rolled inlay or marquetry, colored clay, indirect printing, sgraffito or scratching underglazed surfaces, textured surfaces and resist with shellac, wax and paper. 

This is not a "cut & paste" workshop. It is rare chance to experience a structured design development course and an introduction to porcelain through unusual skills and inventive techniques from an experienced ceramic artist.

All levels welcome, including complete beginers. No matter if you are a complete novice or an experienced professional, Pilar's rare knowledge of porcelain and making will provide tips and encourage anyone to have a go. Pilar's expert advice is on hand at all times to ensure a successful outcome. Beginners are welcome as all participants are carefully guided through the design process to ensure a personal outcome.

This course takes a hands-on approach from the first day. It introduces an in-depth exploration of color and texture to obtain rich and vibrant surfaces with a focus on product development. During this course you will be intrroduced to developing jewellery collections to a finished and marketable standard.

The 8-week course fee covers all porcelain, glazing and firing and use of facilties but specialist silver clasps etc will be an extra surcharge depending on use. 

Refunds

Please choose your classes carefully. Due to our limited class sizes once you've booked and paid either the deposit or the full fee we will only refund what you have paid if the class is cancelled by us. If you are unable to attend you may transfer your booking to a friend for no charge. If we can fill your place we can hold your payment for up to 12 months for a future course.

Balance of payment  

Please note when paying the deposit online the balance is automatically deducted from the same credit card three weeks before the course start date. You will receive booking confirmation emails from our booking agency We Teach Me. Pease add them to your email contacts so their messages do not go to Junk. There is a booking fee that you can avoid by paying through our office on 03 99437844 (Weds-Fri 10am-5pm only).
