Make a Pendant in a Day - formed with the Hydraulic Press

Description

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Hydraulic Press for Jewellery and Small Objects workshop explores the foundations of forming and texturing metal using the hydraulic press. Students learn how to design and fabricate both non-conforming and matrix dies – the ‘moulds’ from which your hydraulically pressed forms are created. We will also explore using the hydraulic press for the application of decorative textural

What you will make

Students will learn how create a number of dies (non conforming, matrix and embossing) which are then used to create their hydraulically pressed designs. There is the option to create either jewellery or small objects, reliant on the student’s preference and existing skills set.

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Emily works with traditional jewellery making techniques as well as embracing new technologies within her practice. She completed her Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design at the Design Centre Enmore (SIT), after having previously run her own business. Emily is passionate about all things jewellery and loves the scope for constant learning which it provides.

Emily has presented work in many group shows and is currently working towards a solo exhibition, scheduled for 2016, which is inspired by her concerns around the coal seam gas mining industry within Australia.
