Description

If you love gemstones then this stone setting workshop is for you. Learn to set a cabochon stone during this stone setting course.  Students will be making rub-over bezel set gemstone ring in sterling silver over the duration of a two-day workshop.

In the Gem Setting 101 - Bezel Setting Workshop you will learn how to incorporate cabochon stones into your jewellery by creating a bezel setting in tandem with a classic ring design.

Students make a ring in silver set with a semi-precious cabochon gemstone. All materials for this project are supplied as a part of the course outline. Measuring and constructing secure settings to safely house gemstones is the primary focus of this workshop alongside building upon your fabrication, soldering and polishing skills. The two-day workshop is very much process focussed with participants creating a classic ring design finished to a high standard over the two days of learning.

The Gem Setting 101 - Bezel Setting Workshop is suitable for students early in their jewellery making practice. To participate, at least the equivalent of our Beginner's class (7-week course) should have been completed in order to ensure sufficient prior knowledge of fabrication processes to comfortably complete this workshop. Students will fabricate a ring shank and a setting for their gemstone ring, alongside learning how to set a cabochon stone.

The 2-day workshop is taught by Erin Keys, an experienced tutor and contemporary jeweller with over 20 years in the industry.
