Give Plastic Bags the Hook
Mesh bags are always handy and this one folds up to stash in your handbag or glove box - and we think it’s pretty too!!
With plastic bags causing so much damage to our planet, and now being phased out by supermarkets. One way that we can do our part is to give plastic bags the hook! Make a few of these beautiful bohemian style crochet bags and be the envy of all your friends and do your bit to save the planet at the same time.
The tote is the perfect project for someone who has just learned to crochet to practice their stitches. The market bags can be completed in a couple of hours and is one of my favourite lazy afternoon or holiday projects.
The bag features a rectangular shape, long handles and a mesh body that stretches to accomodate all your shopping or a towel, sunscreen and a book for a day out at the beach. You’ll be amazed at the amount of stuff these bags can hold!
Ideal as a present, use a pretty organic cotton to make the perfect gift for your all your friends - I dare you to stop at just one!
Crochet is hugely popular at the moment and our classes sell out quickly, so be sure to book soon so you don't miss out!
Everything's better with a friend, right? So why not bring a buddy and save on the price of your ticket!
The class takes place in my home studio. We have a couple of dogs (both small breeds, calm and settled and can be put outside if you'd prefer) and a rabbit, so if you are allergic please dose yourself with appropriate medication prior to arriving. I live in a quiet, little suburban Court, feel free to park along the sides of the street or on our lawn or nature strip, please don't park across the neighbours driveway!!
I am an experienced teacher with endless patience, my classes are held in a fun and supportive environment and there is no such thing as a silly question!
If you feel a little nervous meeting new people (and lets face it, most of us are), you are welcome to arrive 10-15min early, check out my studio, fondle the yarn and make yourself comfortable before the class starts.
- Practice your chain stitches, and your double and treble crochet stitches.
- Comprehensive notes and pictures and a completed or almost completed market bag.
- Materials can be purchased from my studio, or bring your own hook and yarn.
Comfortable, casual clothing.
This is not a beginners class, some knowledge of crochet is required.

At Syd and Wynnie our aim is to share our passion of all things yarn and crafting. Knitting is a thousand year old craft that has influenced countless designers and makers throughout time. Best of all, the basics of knitting are very simple and easy to master. We like to encourage knitters, crocheters and yarn lovers in general to write their own stories with wool and other fine materials.
We aim to bring generations closer together and hope to offer a contemporary, inspiring and welcoming experience through every class or workshop we offer.
We believe in building long term customer relationships and truly enjoy being a part of our student’s creative journey offering guidance and encouragement along the way.
Leanne is an experienced teacher and has been knitting and crocheting for many years. Knitting is her love and teaching her passion. In everything we do we try to represent a positive attitude toward the world, sharing a concern about it’s resources and the way we take care of the planet.
