Learn to knit a cuff down sock using one long Circular Needle - known as the Magic Loop method.

You’ll begin by knitting a tiny sample sock which goes through all the techniques and then progress to a full-size sock. It’s challenging but satisfying and at the end you will be able to knit socks for anyone.

Techniques covered:

  • circular knitting using the magic loop method
  • stretchy cast-ons
  • heel flap heel construction
  • shaping
  • grafting toes with kitchener stitch

We’ll also discuss sock construction, sock yarns, tools of the trade, pattern choice, common terms in sock-knitting, resources, and finishing and caring for socks. All terms and techniques will be explained and demonstrated and there’ll be lots of support but you’ll need to know the basics of knitting.

The V-Book 'Sock Knitting for Beginner Sock Knitters' - by Knit with Syd and Wynnie will be available for you to download.  The V-Book breaks down the process of sock knitting into easy bite-sized steps with videos accompanying each step so that you can enjoy knitting socks and build your confidence.

You'll also receive one free 30min session with me and free access the the Facebook Group.

My class is designed to be as enjoyable as an in-person learning experience, but with the convenience of learning online when and where it suits you.

At Syd and Wynnie our aim is to share our passion of all things yarn and crafting. Knitting is a thousand year old craft that has influenced countless designers and makers throughout time.   Best of all, the basics of knitting are very simple and easy to master.  We like to encourage knitters, crocheters and yarn lovers in general to write their own stories with wool and other fine materials.

We aim to bring generations closer together and hope to offer a contemporary, inspiring and welcoming experience through every class or workshop we offer.

We believe in building long term customer relationships and truly enjoy being a part of our student’s creative journey offering guidance and encouragement along the way.

Leanne is an experienced teacher and has been knitting and crocheting for many years. Knitting is her love and teaching her passion.  In everything we do we try to represent a positive attitude toward the world, sharing a concern about it’s resources and the way we take care of the planet.
