Held once a year this is a graduate exclusive course - due to the structure of the course it is available only to those who have participated in our Classic Delights, Gourmet Delights or Farmhouse Cheese courses (participation is verified).

Come join us as hobby farmers for a day as we teach you all about home cheese making with goat milk in Pickering Brook, in the beautiful Perth Hills. Learn the secrets as we teach you about working with goat milk to turn out great cheese! Meet Marylin, a delightful hobby goat farmer, have a go at milking, make your very own goat cheese to take home, plus enjoy a smorgasboard lunch including an array of goat cheeses and a glass of chilled wine amidst beautiful scenery.

Whether you've ever dreamed of having your own goats, you've had trouble experimenting with goat milk on your own, or you just love getting out into the outdoors and enjoying homestead hospitality, this course is for you. 

THIS GRADUATE EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

  • Full day hobby farm experience in a secluded location in Pickering Brook.
  • Information sessions about goats, how to source quality goat milk, the benefits of goat milk and and the specifics of cheese making with goat milk. 
  • 5 litres of beautiful fresh goat milk to work with. From the cheeses you have already learnt with us you will choose one cheese to make  (from camembert, fetta or farmhouse). Take home the entire batch of cheese you make on the day and recipe adjustments to master goat milk versions. 
  • Learn the art of making chevré and beautiful leaf wrapped goat cheeses.  
  • Discover the secrets that make all the difference to making beautiful goat milk ricotta and goat milk yoghurt….and enjoy these freshly made, served with the most divine farm fruits and preserves.
  • Be treated to morning tea, tastings galore and a scrumptious smorgasboard lunch with wine.
  • Have a go at milking the girls, and meet ‘the lucky boy’ on the Block.
  • Enjoy the serenity of being on the Farm, with many chances to ask questions and socialise with other cheese makers.

In each of our courses you'll watch, learn, and get hands on practice. Most importantly you can trust that you'll be able to re-create what you learn in class time and time again, with our take home guide and follow-on cheese making products and support because it's not just a course, it's the start of your cheese making adventure with us.

The Cheese Maker runs half day and full day classes in home cheese making. No previous experience is required and, if doing multiple courses, can be done in any order. We also run corporate events and are a supplier of cheese making cultures and equipment.

  • All payments are final.
  • A $50 fee applies to course date transfers and date transfers are not permitted within 14 days of course date. You can however transfer a course to another party.
  • All courses are subject to minimum numbers (in the event that minimum course numbers are not reached, you will be notified 7 days prior to course commencement). If your course is postponed by The Cheese Maker due to insufficient numbers you will be given the option to transfer to a future course. If an appropriate date within 3 months cannot be found, you will be offered a full refund.

Gift Vouchers

If you purchase a gift voucher for a course with no course date selected, course credit will be valid for 12 months from date of purchase. If a gift voucher is purchased for a specific course date, the general course refund and transfer policy applies.

Course participants will automatically be added to our graduate email newsletter. Containing news, information and tips for your cheesemaking, this comes out 2-3 times per year and you can unsubscribe at any time.

This was a fantastic day thank you Tanya. Not only reinforced my fetta skills but I learned about goats milk and got close to a couple. Also met lovely people on the day. Highly recommend.

Well goat's milk isn't like cow's milk and this is a great opportunity to find out how they differ in a beautiful setting with lovely, talented and interesting people. If you have only made one type of cheese its a good chance to see how others are made as you can 'spy' on the other techniques being used. As always you learn but it's fun, friendly and informative. Tanya is the most enthusiastic teacher and Wendy the most helpful of helpers. Marilyn and Brian are a lovely couple and I thank them for opening their home up to us for the day and letting us try to milk their goats! Can't recommend it enough :)
