An Introduction to Grading, Cupping & Roasting
This is the quintessential roastery tour, perfect for the coffee enthusiast who is eager to learn and understand more about the process of what goes on behind the scenes to make that perfect cup of coffee.
Here at The Coffee Training Co., we will take you through a hands-on walk through of our specialty roastery with our sister company First Batch Coffee Roasters. You will get to participate in the process of roasting a batch of coffee from start to finish using a unique fluid bed air roasting system that allows them to accurately roast their coffee to their specific requirements each and every time.
Here we will take you on a journey to help you better understand a traditional roasting system vs a fluid bed air roasting system and the benefits of this newer technology. The roaster is user friendly and allows you to control the roaster in order to receive the full experience. Throughout the session you will be guided by our knowledgeable trainers who will help you understand how the roaster itself works as well as the changes happening to the coffee beans inside the roaster.
After the coffee is roasted you will make your way to our tasting room where you will complete a coffee cupping session. Cupping is used by coffee professionals around the world for quality control, product development, and the creation of blends. During this session you will get to put your palate to the test as you smell and taste your way through several blends and single origin coffees helping you to further your understanding of the complex flavours that can be found in coffee.
This tour is a unique experience giving you the chance to see behind the scenes of a specialty coffee roaster and what it takes to achieve the perfect coffee.
