For me, cooking has always been about the sharing of food. It’s about the anticipation of sitting down together and having quality time to talk and share a meal.

I am the daughter of Chinese cooking legend Elizabeth Chong and granddaughter to pioneering and dim-sim inventor William Wing Young.  In so many ways I have always been surrounded by food.  I went on to study  Horticulture but found myself always wanting to plant veggies in peoples front gardens.  Later, I  designed Victoria’s first fully accredited  Asian Cookery course at William Angliss Institute  of TAFE where I taught for nearly 20yrs.

Today, my  business The Humble Dumpling, is a return to my roots and family traditions. I grew up surrounded by aunties, uncles, grandparents and many many cousins who gathered every Sunday to make dumplings.   I have such fond memories of those days and hope that my workshops and events will go some of the way towards sharing my wonderfully rich food culture.

18 December 2018 • Lets Make Dumplings Workshop

What a wonderful day. Angie is such a wonderful host open about her family life, the importance of food in her life and an amazing teaching. Every single dumpling worked despite our lack of experience and delicious. Everyone joined in. Angie accommodated Vegan dumplings for myself and friends. Even the meat eaters remarked on how delicious the vegan dumplings were!!! Great time to spend with friends/family, buy for yourself and give as a gift . Definitely able to replicate the dumplings at home. Can't wait. Thank you Angie!

This was a lovely way to spend a day! Angie is very hospitable and knowledgeable. She even helped us experience the difference between store bought and home made wrappers. The other participants were lovely people and the afternoon culminated in a great meal. Thanks Angie!

The best cooking class I have ever done. The host Angie is amazing and her house is so beautiful, we even got a tour of her beautiful garden. The dumplings are delicious. Would definitely book another of her classes and I'm going to give some as Christmas presents too. Would highly recommend.
