Speaker Building Workshop Course

Build Premium Speakers in 4 Sessions

Over 10 people have attended this class

Description

Embark on a Journey

Over a course of 4 sessions you will be given the tools, materials and guidance to build your own pair of high quality speakers. This course is hands-on intertwined with theory about sound and audio.

Use your hands as tools and develop skills in speaker design, construction and theory. By the end of the course, you walk home with your own pair of hand-crafted speakers and the knowledge you need to set up a Hi-Fi system in your home.

Build Premium Speakers

These premium speakers are made for people who want the best of the best. They are designed to reproduce music at lowest distortion possible. This has been achieved through pairing high quality Danish speaker components with an advanced crossover design.  The power handling of our premium speakers is 100 watts, which is pretty serious for their size - can handle the house party for sure. They are studio monitor grade, so you won't be let down by the quality of sound. It's a two way design and is ported, which provides a bass extension of 45 hz. The frequency range of this speaker is  45 hz - 30 khz.  Further details on speaker specification can be found on our website, see TROHET speaker page.

These specifications are discussed over the course of the four sessions so you will know your speakers inside out. If you were to buy speakers similar to these off the shelf, you're looking at spending at least $6500.

American Alder is provided as standard for the cabinets, however, they cabinet material can be upgraded to Birch plywood, Oak or Mahogany.

This course is absolutely amazing! Atlas is a super passionate guy and it’s infectious! The location at the old locomotive workshop gives the course an edge. It’s a fun and inspiring place to work in. When else are you ever going to build something in the middle of oversized machines and furnaces? The course has the right balance between theory and hands-on work. The demos are fantastic and Atlas is able to dig deeper into the physics as needed. You will get a lot out of this course whether you’re a sound engineer or have never heard the word “sine wave” before. The speakers you will go home with are outstanding and, with the right amp, will absolutely change your life (sonically that is, I don’t think they can grant wishes... yet). I can’t recommend this course enough!

Building speakers with The Speaker Project was a very special experience. Atlas and Tone were extremely welcoming and generous with their time and energy. They are passionate about helping everyone build a high quality set of speakers and are willing to impart as much knowledge as they can. Providing his expert guidance across wood working, electrical circuits and the science of sound, Atlas took care to make everyone feel engaged without being overwhelmed with each step in the process. I learnt so much and enjoyed every moment of it. On top of all that the speakers sound incredible. I would highly recommend this course to everyone.

Joining the Speaker Project was a special experience. I had waited a long time to purchase a proper system and this went so far beyond going to my local store to choose after a quick listen. The course was a patient and well thought out journey, where Atlas shared with us his knowledge and love of audio. After four workshop sessions I have learnt so much and met some great people. Not to forget crafting an awesome pair of speakers, with an understanding of how they work. They sound as good as they look and mean so much more to me than the sum of their parts. Thank you Speaker Project.
