Still Life Watercolour (March 2019)

Book Now (http://weteachme.com/l/zsDnwDxr)

Elizabeth Barnett is one of The Windsor Workshop's modern day art heroes.  Without a doubt.   Elizabeth’s illustrations and paintings often depict her everyday surroundings - intimate domestic spaces filled with exotic and interesting plants, colour, treasured objects and furniture, seasonal still life compositions and landscapes.  Constantly returning to ideas surrounding the split between motherhood and creative life, living on the land and in harmony with the seasons, we find the simple pleasures in life are well documented in Elizabeth’s work.

We have been relentless in securing Elizabeth’s introduction to The Windsor Workshop!  And we are extremely excited to announce that Elizabeth is joining us to take us on a watercolour journey.  We couldn’t be happier...

An introduction to still life watercolour painting with artist Elizabeth Barnett will guide you through some watercolour basics including what materials to use, how to mix colours and developing your own style within the medium. This class is aimed at beginners who want a taster in watercolour painting or intermediates who want a different take on the watercolour painting and creative processes. In the class we will be mixing colours, trying out different techniques and approaching painting a still life scene that will be arranged in the centre of the table. Elizabeth's approach brings together traditional and non traditional approaches to watercolour painting and does not require that a student have a lot of experience in painting or drawing. The hope it that each participant will find their own way within the class and have the confidence to go forward and continue the very rewarding practice of watercolour painting in their daily lives.

  • Please note date change from October embroidery workshop

01 April 2019 • Still Life Watercolour (March 2019)

What a great morning in a beautiful space learning the basics of watercolour painting with Elizabeth Barnett. Lizzy was gracious, generous, and ran a beautifully well structured class covering all kinds of things including brushes, paints, the usefulness of a colour mixing chart, her favourite sources of inspiration, shared her sketchbooks for us to look at, and told us to break the rules! The venue was delightful, and the light lunch provided and glass of prosecco a bonus :) For this class, an extra hour would have made it totally perfect - I felt a little like we were running out of time towards the end, and I really wasn't able to enjoy a more leisurely bite to eat and chat with other class members. My only (very small) niggle on what was otherwise a perfect morning. Thanks for having me!
