This course has been designed for those that have been sewing from commercial patterns, have a good knowledge of sewing and want to be able to develop their own patterns.
Instructed by Jenni, over the four week course she will work with you on three different skirt styles from your skirt pattern blocks and adding design details. Creating patterns from a block in your standard size, you will also get tips on fitting, sewing techniques and finishing options. You will learn to draft A Line Skirts, Circle Skirts, Pencil Skirts and you will pattern make your own design.
This course is exclusively pattern making. Students are still welcome to use all the sewing lounge hours and social sewing nights to make the patterns they have drafted. To get the most out of your course, you will need to allow for time during your week to make toiles of your patterns as homework. There are also Social Sewing nights and the sewing lounge hours when you are welcome to come outside of the class sessions to make your garments during the course.

This class is exactly what it says - intensive! I enjoyed creating my own skirt patterns from my own personal skirt block. Having attended other pattern drafting courses with Amy M, I was able to bring some of my earlier skills to this class, including being able to make a pattern from an existing skirt from my wardrobe (Copy a Garment you Love). I love how the courses at Thread Den create a knowledge and skill base that can be used in other courses at Thread Den. This course is as easy or as challenging as you want it to be, depending on the complexity of the skirt patterns you want to make. It was extremely well taught.
