popular eras while looking at the social and historical impact of the time on these styles.

Rather than a look and learn approach, these are hands on classes where you will learn

the techniques to transform yourself! Pull on your glad rags, grab some friends, a few

glasses of bubbles and come along to just about the loveliest afternoon that you could

imagine.

In three and half hours (or as listed above) Miss Lee will take you through retro skin care, makeup application from popular eras.  We'll give you a good dose of grooming and deportment as well.

+ More
What you will learn
  • Makeup application
  • Retro grooming methods
  • How to set your hair
What you will get
  • A glamorous new look
  • An afternoon or evening of fun and great company!
Parking Info
  • We are located at Level 1, 329 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.  It's a red door on the street between an Afghan restaurant and the N2 Gelato Bar.  If you are putting this into your GPS for directions - make sure that the address is NOT coming up as North Fitzroy. That's a couple of kilometres down the road. Totally not where you need to go.
  • Parking near Thread Den: There is very little free parking. Brunswick Street is all ticketed and restricted to as little as 2hours during some hours of the day.  Surrounding streets can also be difficult.  However, you can park for longer in the paid Coles Car Park.  When you look it up online it is listed as Johnston Street, however access is via Argyle Street.  If you park on level 1 or 2 and spend over $30 at Coles, you can get your parking for up to 4 hours reimbursed in Coles.
  • Catch the tram. Public Transport is the ideal way to get to Thread Den - jump on the number 11 Tram and get off near the Johnston Street intersection.

What to bring
  • Pop a few things in your pocket book. We'll let you know in your confirmation email.
  • Feel free to bring drinks and nibbles to enjoy with your new friends!
What to wear

Wear something utterly gorgeous! But don't wash your hair on the day or the day before. Clean hair is really hard to work with.

Appropriate for

Vintage vixens, retro lovers & anyone who wants to build their confidence.

Thread Den

Vendor since 2013

Have you played with the idea of learning to sew? Do you day dream about making your own clothes?

At Thread Den it's just like a friend (a super nice clever one) teaching you and a few friends to sew. There is no need to clear off a space and find somewhere to work at home. When you come in; take advantage of having all the equipment on hand, lovely big cutting tables, smooth running Janomes with plenty of feet accessories, inspiring resources, and friendly people to chat to. Everything is right here. Students simply need to bring along their fabric, matching thread and notions like buttons, zips, etc.  Your teachers have years of experience, their own labels and businesses, and the desire to share their skills and craftsmanship with you.

Thread Den is located at Level 1, 329 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Start at the very beginning, take your skills to the next level, or find your own unique style.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

On occasion, Thread Den is forced to cancel a class due to low booking numbers. We really don't like to do this as we love to teach people to sew, knit and crochet, but if we don't cover our costs we can't run the class. In instances where Thread Den must cancel a class, enrolled participants will be notified 24 hours or more prior to the scheduled class and will receive a credit for a replacement class or a refund as required.

There are no refunds due to change of mind.

19 June 2018 • Vintage Hair and Makeup Workshops

I had a fantastic time last Saturday afternoon at the 60's vintage hair and make up workshop. Miss Lee made everyone feel welcome and there were lots of laughs. I learnt how to use hot rollers (up until now a bit of a mystery) and even my butter fingers could shape a cool bouffant. Lots of useful tips about equipment and products. Awesome experience, highly recommend.

Miss Lee made my hair look AMAZING, and it's still holding a few days later. I loved the 60s afternoon, it was a great chance to learn new hair and makeup skills and meet others with a love of vintage
