Description

This course has been designed for those that have been sewing from commercial patterns, have a good knowledge of sewing and want to be able to develop their own patterns.

The dress styles covered include; stapless bodices, halter neck styles, bodices with built in cups, cut outs and cowls. As many students have completed the skirts and shirts pattern drafting courses, the dress styles to be covered in class are beyond the basic shilouettes of skirts paired with shirts. The styles covered are "a little bit fancy" and beyond a simple shirt on attached to a skirt.

  • Creating bespoke patterns by drawing a design on a basic toile and then converting this into patterns
  • Creating patterns from a block specially fitted to you
  • Tips on fitting, techniques and finishing options
  • There are 2 weeks at the end dedicated to designing your own dress from what you have learnt

In the intro session where we will organise your dress block and provide your class kit.

This course is exclusively pattern making. To get the most out of your course, you should make toiles of your patterns as homework. There are also Social Sewing nights and the daily sewing lounge hours when you are welcome to come outside of the class sessions to make your garments during the course.
