Description

In this five hour Shell Top Workshop, you can choose from two styles - keep it simple with one fabric, or choose to showcase a contrasting fabric in the yokes with the Adelle variation.

The Simple Shell has bust darts, the Adelle has a yoke which allows you to feature contrasting fabrics. Made over five hours, both variations are sleeveless, have round necks and feature a box pleat in the back.

With only a few pattern pieces, either style is a great choice if you are looking to make your first garment and have taken our Sewing Basics Course (or similar). You will be taught step-by-step to:

  • Taking your measurements, selecting your size and laying out pattern pieces
  • Cutting technique, and transferring pattern markings
  • Simple variation - sew bust darts
  • Adelle variation - techniques to sew opposing  curves in a seam
  • Use overlockers to finish fabric raw edges and seams
  • How to create a pleat in the back
  • The essential technique : the "magic roll" method to an all-in-one facing/partial lining
  • Clipping back curves
  • Narrow hemming the scooped shape

The shell top course is great. I used it to learn how to make a basic pleat and self facing. The trick with rolling to make the facing was great and couldn’t be learned from a pattern. Slowly my sewing skills are improving. I’m making more of my own clothes

That magic roll! You'll be able to use it on so many patterns, no need to have two part facings that flick up and out of place ever again.

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review. Check you inbox for a little gift from us in thanks.

This class was great and I have a fantastic new top to wear. I can't wait to get into making another one. I loved using the interfacing and see it all come together. So much fun turning flat fabric into a 3D item I can wear
