Pattern Design: The Venus Kimono - Relaxed fit is a free size pattern from Sew This Pattern. Lots of lovely fabric drapes from the shoulder pleats and the flawless French seams make it just as beautiful in, as out. You'll learn new skills, such as the easy but confusing French seams and pleats, plus the challenging skill of achieving rolled hems, all under the guiding eye of a teacher supporting you through the steps. In a workshop at this level, you are expected to know how to use a sewing machine.
Photographed Sample: The photographed sample is worn and made by the designer Annie Mollison in the fabric “Three sided tears” from Tessuti - a cotton/silk blend voile.
Styling Ideas: It is perfect for layering over outfits and makes a great beach cover-up. Read how to style your Venus Kimono Jacket - click here.

I picked up some good tips on pinning techniques, fabric placement (and extending the grainline on the pattern to make it easier) and plenty more. Jen was able to offer something for each of our skill levels in the class. I really enjoyed it!
I learnt French seams, I didn't get a copy of the pattern & felt the general lack of a proper pattern a bit strange. You just get a piece of cardboard to trace around.
A fun and challenging class led by a lovely teacher. Learnt about French seams, pleats and the tricky rolled hems. Only disappointment was the size of the kimono- I'd thought it would be a bit smaller, but will now just have to use my skills to alter it!
