What to Bring

  • 30cm of medium weight fusible interfacing
  • 1 x spool of sewing machine thread
  • Snacks, lunch and a bottle of water
  • Fabric A - .4metres of woven cotton for the top fabric feature (quilting/crafting cotton is perfect)
  • Fabric B - .6metres woven cotton - the main fabric of your bag and also the straps (quilting/crafting cotton is perfect)
  • Fabric C -.5metre of woven cotton for the lining of your bag (quilting/crafting cotton is perfect)

What to Wear

  • Comfy clothes and proper shoes (no thongs).

  • Children aged 9 to 14 years who have completed our Holiday Sewing: Learn to Sew for Kids Day 1

About This Class

Class Schedule

  • Held from 10am to 2pm.

What You Will Learn

  • How to sew a bag with straps, feature fabric and with a lining
  • Fusing interfacing
  • Marking out and cutting out patterns

What You Get

  • Our experienced and lovely teachers will take you through everything from the very beginning.
  • You don't need to bring a sewing machine or tools. We have lovely, smooth running Janome machines (supplied and serviced by Statewide Sewing Centres).
  • A handmade tote bag

Description

Make a cute tote bag, that looks super professional!  Nice and deep for all your books and devices.  Featuring 3 fun fabrics chosen by you. 

We'll teach just what you need to know to walk out with a finished bag at the end of the day. We know that achieving results is an important part of keeping teen SEWers motivated to continue!

This class is only offered during the School holidays. Our school holiday program is hosted by our super talented, super nice and super fun instructors.

Thank you very much for a very delightful class. My ten year old learnt the basics of sewing and made a very well finished tote bag that she shows off every where she goes. She is ready to the next class (that she begged me to enrol her for), when I thought she was going to hate me to have forced her in the first one. Thanks again.

I learnt to screen print and I learnt to change the foot on the machine. I learnt to thread a machine and thread the bobbin. I learnt how to sew a zipper and basic sewing construction. The workshop was the highlight. Everything was fun!
