The exhibition was well suited to the venue; still live paintings of flowers and the nursery connection. We liked that connection and the paintings very much. We also enjoyed catching up with colleagues and friends. Access to the venue and the journey between the upper and lower levels however were somewhat tortuous though the cleared floor space did make the top level accessible.
A great concept, but poorly executed. We had booked a table for three, and arrived to find we had been automatically placed on a long bench table with others. Not a huge deal, except we needed seats with backs due to various injuries. We asked one of the girls and her reply was "now I'll have to rearrange the entire event" which we thought was a bit extreme. The manager, to his credit, managed to find us a table for three, with chairs with backs. We arrived at 2pm and told we would be fed at 2.30pm. Our meals arrived at 4pm. By this time, half of the other tables had eaten, had their meals cleared and had left. The food was great, the music was great, but given the relatively small numbers, we don't think we should have had to wait 1.5 hours to be served the same meal as everyone else. Happy to support local businesses, and we would have loved to have met the chefs, had a casual glass of wine at the end, rather than everyone packing up around us right on the dot of 6pm in a rush to leave on a Sunday evening. Brisbane, you're better than that.
Wild Canary was the perfect backdrop for Sue Rowsell's gorgeous flora in "Full Bloom". A lovely treat to wander the gardens after viewing flowers captured in such beautiful detail! thanks, Julie Borgelt
