Writing connects our hands, head and heart. It’s a powerful tool for communication, self expression and connectivity. Write For Life , takes writers on a creative journey through the writing process.
Developing a toolbox of writing skills is invaluable but putting your skills to the test, is how writers master the power of words. This fun, high energy, writing program will extend writers’ confidence and creativity. Over eight weeks, writers will explore genres from journalling and personal narrative to fiction and poetry. Weekly workshops showcase a range of writing activities as well as opportunities to workshop and receive valuable feedback. As well our creative writing activities, each week we’ll reflect and share our experience of the writing process. Writers learn so much from listening and working closely together.
Week 1:The Book of Me
This week our focus is personal writing. We’ll use a range of wide open writing prompts to ignite our imaginations and invite writers to reflect on their feelings, thoughts and ideas in new ways. Then I’ll show writers how to turn their pieces of writing into a keepsake envelop book.
Week 2: Totally Random
Inspiration for writing is everywhere. You just need to know where to look. This week, our writing prompts are designed ignite our imaginations and inspire creative thinking and storytelling. From ink blots to random words, pictures and pieces of music, we’ll watch characters settings and plots slowly come to life.
Week 3: My Book of Wonderings
To be a great writer, you need to observe the world closely and mindfully. Everything is interesting! Staying curious is the key. This week we’ll discover how to use our questions (and our curiosity) to generate unique and original writing ideas across both the fiction and non fiction genre. We’ll create a Book of Wonderings to help us cement this reflective writing and thinking practice into our daily lives.
Week 4: Creative Lists
I love writing lists. Perhaps you like writing lists too! Not only is writing the list fun, but I have found lots of ways to put my lists to work! List poetry is a great way to fashion your ideas into pieces of writing. We will also create lists to help inspire and organise your creative writing and storytelling ideas.
Week 5: The Power Of Words
This week we will focus on word choice, descriptive imagery and sensory writing as we explore Haiku and Tanka - two forms of Japanese poetry which focus on the natural world. Once we have the basics under our belts, we’ll embark on an online Ginkgo ( Haiku walk) visiting places around the globe to inspire haiku poetry.
Week 6: Object Writing
Objects engage our senses. Objects inspire pictures and imagery and before you know it, you have access to buried memories and vivid feelings. Isn’t this the best starting point for any piece of writing? I’ll share my object treasure chest and show you how to create your own kit to inspire a host of home writing adventures.
Week 7 Get Your Game On
Writing is so much more than a set of rules and skills. Writing games encourage a sense of playfulness and possibility. (We all learn more easily when we're engaged and motivated.) But don't be fooled: when it comes to consolidating writing skills, these games are the real deal.
Week 8: Story Celebration
In our final session, we come together to celebrate our creativity and share some of our favourite pieces of writing with each other. As we plan this last workshop together as a group, I leave the format open ended but in the past, our story celebration includes readings, writing games and activities, character dress ups and even a special guest or two!

- 8 x 50 min face to face writing workshops on Zoom.

Write Away With Me is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of writers! We offer storytelling and literacy workshops for Early Childhood and Primary Schools as well as a range of after school (The Writer's Club) and holiday programs. Our professional development programs provide a wealth of hands on activities to allow teachers and parents to become aware of their unique power as writers, storytellers and creative thinkers! As the Director, I develop and teach programs, as well as manage our programs and events. Write Away With Me also updates a blog and produces a monthly newsletter.
All booking withdrawal requests for our courses must be made in writing to email@example.com
Requests for transfer of booking or full refunds must be at least 48 hours before course commencing.
Booking withdrawals made within the 48hrs prior to commencement will be non-refundable, except for exceptional circumstances judged at our discretion. No refunds will be given for withdrawal after the course begins.
We understand that participants may have to miss a session in multiple session workshop. Missed classes will not be refunded. For privacy reasons, workshops are not recorded but all efforts will be made to allow participant to catch up on missed content.
We reserve the right to cancel classes/courses due to minimum numbers. Notification of cancellations will be as soon as possible and usually be sent at least 48 hours beforehand. Under these circumstances a transfer or full refund will be fulfilled on our behalf
If for unforeseen circumstances one class/session, from a course, needs to rescheduled/cancelled we will endeavour to seek a satisfactory resolution of another session provided or appropriate reimbursement.
By accepting the terms and finalising payment you agree to the following terms. The person who makes the booking does so on behalf of the individuals attending.
Bookings are allocated upon receipt of full payment of the listed price.
Payment card through the WeTeachMe booking set-up is through a secure payment service. Write Away With Me do not gather or retain any card details.

For privacy purposes, online courses are not recorded. Filming or photographing the contents of the classes is not permitted without our prior consent.
Any resources supplied as part of the courses are for your use only and are not to be reproduced unless permission is granted.
