Teaching for me is seeing other Grow “~ Jemina Richards

With an illustrious career spanning over 30 years Jemina has been lucky enough to collaborated with some of the best in the business and worked on many of Melbourne’s most prestigious events~ Melbourne Grand Prix  Spring Racing Carnival and the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

Beginning her Apprenticeship Training at the renowned Myer Florist in the Melbourne city store to owing her own Florist shop in the Mornington Peninsula at the age of 20.

Her passion for teaching was ignited when she joined the Team as Head Teacher at Victoria Whitelaw School of Flowers. This is where the story has a new beginning     “Not everyone gets to have a career they love, I’m very lucky” Being able to give back all that I have learnt over the years to up and coming Students is very gratifying and left me wanting to offer more. Not only having her Certificate lll in Floristry Jemina attending night school to gain her Certificate lV in Training & Assessment – making her an accredited Teacher. That is when she returned to where it all began having been a Floristry student at Box Hill Institute (many years before) and coming full circle by returning as a part of the teaching faculty.

Jem conducted a fun and comprehensive guide to making a Kokedama. All we needed was in the kit she sent out, it was only Australia Post that let some people down with the kit not arriving on time. I very much enjoyed the zoom class, being out of Melbourne an hour and a half even without Covid I couldn't have gone to a class so zoom was a great way for me to participate.
